Self Righteous Rasta Wednesdays

Trojan Records was formed in 1968 to satiate the youth of England's veracious appetite for reggae, rock steady and ska. Lee Gopthal started the label out of his Musicland/Musik City record store after a successful partnership with one of my heroes, Chris Blackwell, importing Jamaican records. The following are from the excellent compilation Musik City: The Story Of Trojan Records.

MP3 Althia & Donna - Uptown Top Ranking
MP3 Lee 'Scratch' Perry - In The Room
MP3 Jackie Bernard - Solid Sounds
MP3 Jimmy Lindsay - Tribute To Jimmy Hendrix
MP3 James Miller - You Got Me
MP3 Winston Francis - Ten Times Sweeter Than You
MP3 The Aces - I Am Not A King
MP3 The Pioneers - Let Your Yeah Be A Yeah

Great stuff! So is the pioneers a young jimmy cliff? and who else? I love it! I had trouble with the Jackie Bernard - Solid Sounds, you may need to relink it.

i don't believe cliff was ever in the pioneers, but they were huge with sharp/trojan skinheads, and recorded the original version of the specials' "long shot kick the bucket"..."solid sounds" is re-uploaded and very strong...
