"It's just water...from the crick."
On August 27, 1972, The Grateful Dead played a benefit concert for Springfield Creamery, in Veneta, Oregon. Author Ken Kesey acted as master of ceremonies for the event; the creamery was operated by his brother Chuck. The Dead had just returned from the European tour immortalized on the six sides of Europe '72. After an opening set by New Riders of the Purple Sage, Jerry and the boys played three sets consisting of 170 minutes of music, lasting all afternoon and well into the night. The day is documented on the legendary, yet still unreleased, concert film by
John Norris, Sam Field, and Phil DeGuere: Sunshine Daydream, named for the coda section Sugar Magnolia.

Ken Kesey was a bit more than just mc. But its still a very appropriate title for him. Have you ever read the story about him driving the band around on the bus? He wouldn't stop at lights or stop signs... He was a mad man...that may be a bit of an exaggeration but he was definitle a bit reckless.
